Our previous project for this Client was on a much more compact property closer to the centre of Sydney, whilst this particular project was on a larger elevated property, further up the coast and looking out to the Pacific Ocean. Our Clients wanted a Swimming Pool that was contemporary yet timeless, with simple detailing and clean lines; a Pool that was suitable for swimming laps and for good old fashioned family fun - a Pool that would look great now and into the future.

As the topography of the site sloped down towards the ocean, the height of the Pool above ground level increased accordingly. This inspired us to incorporate a small section of weir/cascade and balance tank to address the change of level and create visual interest from the lower level, as well as ensuring that the leaves of the adjacent Eucalypts are easily removed from the surface of the Pool. In addition, a section of glass edge was incorporated into the end of the Pool to help create a seamless connection between the Pool and the expansive views beyond.

As with most of our projects, the design of this Pool commenced initially with the creation of an overall Landscape Master Plan for the total property, addressing the many changes of level across the site, in so doing making the site more usable and providing a better connection to the residence.

A natural split-faced sandstone has been used as the paving material around the Pool, with Italian glass mosaics being used for the internal finish to the Pool. The planting theme generally consisted of dramatic sub-tropical plants to create an elegant architectural feel.
